Steffan Webb is the Plaid Cymru candidate for Cardiff North.

Biography

I am a resident of Llandaff North, a father / step father of four with four grandchildren so the word tad-cu is quite important to me at the moment. Having learnt Welsh as an adult, I have always worked through the medium of Welsh as a teacher, a Charity CEO, community development worker and community education officer. I am retired, which lets me see the grandchildren and care for my elderly family. I do still do some translation and some teaching of adults in the community. I am proud of my history as a language activist, although a little sad that some people feel that this is a problem. I am delighted that some disabled people and climate change activists have used similar tactics to make positive changes.

As your MP I will campaign tirelessly to enact and pass a Climate Crisis Bill. This really is the most important issue. I will call for additional funds for our devolved NHS, support our excellent local health staff and oppose privatisation or dangerous trade deals. Yes, I will commission credible plans for Welsh independence and work positively with those who are indycurious. We do not have to be one of the poorest parts of Europe. Life should be so much better. I voted Remain and Plaid Cymru is the biggest Remain Party in Wales. There is however a question of democracy when people have voted to leave. The referendum cannot be overturned without a People’s Vote between a specific deal, further talks or revoke.

Byddwn yn galw am fwy o gyllid i’r GIG, cefnogi ein staff iechyd lleol gwych a gwrthwynebu preifateiddio neu gytundebau masnach peryglus. Yes, byddwn yn comisiynu cynlluniau credadwy ar annibyniaeth i Gymru a gweithio gyda’r rhai sy’n indycurious. Does dim rhaid i ni fod yn un o’r ardaloedd tlotaf yn Ewrop. Mae modd i fywyd fod cymaint yn well. Gwnes i bleidleisio i aros yn Ewrop. Plaid Cymru yw’r blaid fwyaf yng Nghymru o blaid aros yn Ewrop. Wedi dweud hynny, mae cwestiwn o ddemocratiaeth gan fod pobl wedi pleidleisio i adael. Nid oes modd newid penderfyniad y refferendwm heb gael pleidlais arall i bobl ddewis rhwng cytundeb penodol, mwy o drafod neu aros mewn.
